Chisinau Taxi is a local transport service with its own dispatch centre: you call, give your address, and the dispatcher tells you the estimated price and how long the car will take. The starting fare is 32 MDL, and the per-kilometre rate stays the same even at peak times, with none of the surge pricing global apps use.

The dispatcher tells you how many minutes away the car is, whether you're in Centru, Botanica, Ciocana or Buiucani. You pay the amount on the meter at the end, in cash or, if you ask when booking, by card.

How Much Does a Taxi Cost in Chișinău - Fares With No Hidden Costs

At Chisinau Taxi, a ride around town costs the starting fare, from 32 MDL, plus the kilometres covered, from 5.6 MDL per kilometre in the Standard class. Unlike apps that raise the fare at peak times or when it's raining in Chișinău, the per-kilometre rate below doesn't change from one hour to the next.

How to Book and What a Kilometre Costs

You can book a taxi in Chișinău two ways: call dispatch and give the pick-up and drop-off address, or book a car to your door for a scheduled time. We don't use apps with dynamic pricing, so the per-kilometre rate stays the same whether it's peak time or raining. A kilometre costs from 5.6 MDL in the Standard class, day and night, on top of the starting fare of 32 MDL. A short ride, say from Bulevardul Dacia to the Central Market, comes to around 55-60 MDL at the minimum fare; a longer crossing, from Botanica to Buiucani, comes to 85-100 MDL. If you want the cheapest taxi in Chișinău for your daily journeys with dispatch, choose the Standard class and call ahead, not right at peak demand.

The kilometre in town costs the same day and night. At night, the kilometre towards the airport and the suburbs (Stăuceni, Durlești, Ialoveni and others) costs from 8 MDL in the Standard class and from 9.3 MDL in Comfort or a minivan. The price of a normal ride is the starting fare plus the kilometres covered; waiting time is charged separately if the car waits more than a few minutes, and the dispatcher tells you that rate when you book.

What kinds of taxi are there in Chișinău? Two. The first is dispatch: you call a short number, usually five digits, give your address, and the ride is charged on the meter, with a starting fare and a per-kilometre price. The second is phone apps, where the price is worked out by distance and time and can rise at busy times. Chisinau Taxi works like dispatch: you speak to a person, learn the estimated price and go.

How to Book a Taxi by Phone

  1. Call and give your address: the street, the block number and the entrance. For a house in a private sector, a landmark, a pharmacy or a trolleybus stop helps.
  2. Say where you're going and whether you have large luggage, a small child or a pet, so the right car comes.
  3. The dispatcher tells you the estimated price and how many minutes the car will take, then its make, colour and number.
  4. You pay the amount on the meter at the end, in cash or by card, if you asked for that when booking.

When It's Better to Call Dispatch

  • Late in the evening or at peak times, when the app shows a higher price than usual.
  • To the airport or the station with two or three suitcases: say how much luggage you have, and a Comfort car or a minivan comes.

How much does a kilometre cost by taxi in Chișinău?
With dispatch, a kilometre by taxi in Chișinău costs from 5.6 MDL in the Standard class and from 6.9 MDL in Comfort or a minivan, the same by day as by night. On the roads to the airport and the suburbs the kilometre costs more: from 7.7 MDL by day and 8 MDL at night in Standard. In apps the kilometre can be cheaper, but every minute is charged too, so in traffic the ride can end up more expensive.
How much does a taxi to the airport cost?
It's about 13 km from Centru to Chișinău International Airport, so at the town rate the ride comes to roughly 105 MDL (32 + 13 × 5.6). The price rises if the airport rate applies, from 7.7 MDL per kilometre, or if you're travelling from Ciocana or Buiucani, which are further away. Tell the dispatcher your flight time and how much luggage you have; you get the estimated price before the car sets off.
How is the fare worked out for the "Sober Driver" service?
The service involves two drivers: one drives your car to its destination, the other follows and picks him up from there. The fare is higher than for a normal ride, because two drivers come; at dispatch services in Chișinău it usually starts from a few hundred MDL. The dispatcher gives you the estimated cost before you confirm the booking.
Is a taxi more expensive at night?
Not with us, in town: the kilometre costs the same at night as by day, from 5.6 MDL in the Standard class. At night the kilometre towards the airport and the suburbs gets more expensive, from 8 MDL instead of 7.7. Apps can apply a multiplier at busy times, so late in the evening it's worth checking the price on the phone before the ride.
Can I pay for the ride by bank card or online?
Yes, if you say so when booking. Any car takes cash, and for paying by card (Visa or Mastercard) or through MIA, dispatch sends a car with a terminal or the ability to take a transfer. The amount you pay is the one on the meter at the end of the ride, and you can ask the driver for a receipt.
Do you have child car seats?
Yes, a child seat needs to be requested when booking. Tell the dispatcher the child's age, because a baby needs a different seat to a school-age child, and dispatch sends a car with the right seat. If there's no free car with a seat nearby, you're told this on the phone, along with how long it will take for one to arrive.
Are pets allowed on a ride?
Yes, you can travel with your dog or cat. The condition is that the animal must be carried in a proper pet carrier, or, if it's larger, you need a protective blanket for the back seat, so the car stays clean for the next passengers. Say when booking that you're travelling with a pet, so the driver knows in advance.
